Welcome to Meku. This Privacy Policy explains how Meku ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your information when you use the Meku mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Meku is a mobile app for street dance lovers, combining video sharing, official course videos, themed challenges, personalized dance preferences, and practice time tracking. By accessing or using Meku, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service immediately. Meku is intended only for users who are at least 18 years of age.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to all users of Meku worldwide and to all features, content, and services offered through the app, including video posting and browsing, course videos, themed dance challenges, dance style preferences, practice time tracking, profile management, follow/like/comment interactions, and direct messages.
2. Eligibility and Age Restriction
Meku is intended exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has registered, we will delete the account and any associated personal information without delay. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has registered, please contact us at service@meku.cc.
3. Information You Provide to Us
We collect information you provide directly when you use Meku, including:
- Account information: a unique user ID generated when you sign in with Apple (Sign in with Apple), and the email address or relay address that Apple shares with us according to your selection.
- Profile information: display name (nickname), avatar image, bio, gender (optional), birthday (optional, used to confirm you are 18+), and your selected dance style preferences (such as Breaking, Hip-Hop, Popping, Locking, Jazz, Freestyle).
- User-generated content: dance videos, video covers, captions, hashtags, the challenge tag (if any), comments, and replies that you upload or post within the Service.
- Direct messages: the text and media you send to other users through the in-app messaging feature.
- Practice activity: the duration and timing of your in-app practice sessions used to generate your personal practice time statistics and check-in streak.
- Support communications: messages, feedback, and content you submit when contacting us.
4. Information We Collect Automatically
When you use Meku, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage data, including:
- Device information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and timezone.
- Log and diagnostic data such as IP address, access timestamps, and crash reports.
- Usage data such as videos you view, courses you open, challenges you join, posts you like or comment on, accounts you follow, and your practice session activity.
- Mobile advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), only with your permission as requested through the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. You can change this preference at any time in your device settings.
5. Camera, Microphone, and Photo Library
Meku requests access to your camera, microphone, and photo library so that you can record dance videos, capture profile photos, and select existing videos or images to upload as posts or course homework. Access is requested only when you use a related feature, and you may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. We do not collect photos, videos, or audio from your device unless you choose to upload them.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Meku service, including authentication, profile, video feed, courses, challenges, messaging, and practice tracking;
- Personalize your experience based on the dance styles and creators you choose to follow;
- Generate your personal practice time statistics, daily check-in streak, and learning progress insights;
- Display recommended creators and content within the For You feed;
- Improve features, performance, stability, and security of the app;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, spam, and policy violations;
- Comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to lawful requests;
- Process in-app purchases of virtual currency (coins) used to unlock paid courses or content.
7. Personalization and Recommendations
Meku may use the dance styles you select, the creators you follow, the videos and courses you interact with, and similar in-app signals to surface content we believe will be relevant to you (for example, the For You feed and recommended courses). These recommendations are produced solely for in-app personalization and are not used to build profiles for third-party advertising.
8. User-Generated Content (UGC)
When you upload videos, covers, captions, hashtags, or comments, that content is stored on our servers and may be displayed publicly within the Meku community according to the visibility of the area where you post (for example, public feeds, course pages, or challenge pages). Direct messages between you and another user are not displayed publicly. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload.
9. Direct Messages
Meku offers a private messaging feature that allows registered users to communicate with one another. Messages are stored on our servers so they can be delivered across your devices. While we apply reasonable safeguards, we encourage you not to share highly sensitive personal information in messages.
10. In-App Purchases (Coins)
Meku offers in-app purchases of virtual currency ("coins"), which can be used to unlock paid courses or content within the app. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card number or other full payment credentials. We receive only a transaction confirmation token and the purchased product information, which we use to credit coins to your account and validate your entitlements.
11. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following situations:
- Service providers: with cloud hosting, content delivery, crash reporting, analytics, and customer support providers acting as our processors and bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- Apple App Store: for processing in-app purchases and Apple sign-in, in accordance with Apple's terms.
- Other users: your public profile, posts, comments, likes, follows, and content you submit to public areas of the app are visible to other users.
- Legal compliance: when required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Meku, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Policy.
- With your consent: any other sharing not described above will only happen with your prior consent.
12. Public Content and Visibility
Your username, avatar, bio, posts, comments, likes, and other public activity may be visible to other Meku users. Once content is public, others may view, screenshot, or otherwise capture it, and we cannot control such third-party use.
13. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Meku is a mobile application and does not use browser cookies. We use analogous on-device technologies (such as local storage, secure tokens, and analytics SDKs) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure feature performance. These technologies are essential to the operation of the Service.
14. Advertising Identifiers (ATT)
On iOS, we may request access to your IDFA through the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Whether you allow or deny this request, you can continue to use Meku normally. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).
15. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements.
16. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on the systems that store your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
17. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where required by applicable law, we implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
18. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information (you can edit most profile fields directly in the app);
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on your consent.

19. Account Deletion
You may delete your Meku account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account, or by emailing service@meku.cc. After deletion, your profile and personal data will be removed from public view promptly and erased from our active systems within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention obligations.
20. Reporting and Blocking
Meku provides in-app tools to report posts, comments, courses, or accounts that may violate our policies, and to block users so that you no longer see their content or receive their messages. We process reports and blocks to keep the community safe.
21. Child Safety and CSAE Policy
Meku is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward any content or behavior that constitutes, promotes, facilitates, or glorifies child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). When such content is identified, we will remove it, permanently terminate the responsible account, and report it to appropriate authorities (such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline or the equivalent authority in the relevant jurisdiction). To report suspected CSAE, please use the in-app reporting feature or email service@meku.cc with subject "CSAE Report."
22. Third-Party Services
Meku integrates with third-party services such as Apple (Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchase, ATT) and cloud infrastructure providers. Their handling of any data they receive is governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for those policies.
23. Do Not Track
Because Meku is a mobile app and does not respond to web-based Do Not Track signals, we instead honor your in-app and device-level privacy choices, including the iOS App Tracking Transparency setting.
24. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you within the app or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of Meku after the updated Policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
